Over 1.4 million Palestine refugees live in Gaza. The 11-year blockade and severe restrictions on the movement of people and goods have left the economy in shambles and unemployment has skyrocketed. With most residents barred from leaving Gaza in search of employment, Palestine refugees increasingly rely on support from UNRWA to meet their daily needs. Over 80% of people living in Gaza are in need of humanitarian assistance and over 1 million people rely on emergency food assistance as their main source of food.
Your Gift of Food Assistance for Palestine refugees in Gaza can help ensure that families have food to share and hope for a brighter future.
“Food assistance is indispensable to my family,” says Alaa from Gaza where he lives with his family. For the last 11 years, a blockade on Gaza has crippled the economy and employment is scarce. “Without it (food assistance), I wouldn’t be able to afford food for my family.” Alaa’s family, including six daughters, depend on UNRWA food assistance to provide basic food staples, such as flour and rice. Alaa has high hopes for his daughters, “I hope that my children can finish their education, live in a nicer home than this one, and live in dignity.”
Your Gift of Food helps people, like Alaa, access UNRWA emergency food assistance. Over 1 million people in Gaza rely on UNRWA food assistance for their basic food needs. This assistance is a lifeline, not only to food, but to hope and dignity.
